Course Description
This course is designed for post-graduate student in the Economics and Economic History Departments. The goal of this course is not to provide a comprehensive survey of world and Chinese history, but to introduce how we applied theoretical approaches (such as, economic growth, economic geography, institutional analysis, political economy, etc.) and quantitative methods (such as, econometrics, etc.) to discuss important historical issues and how economic understanding on many classical theories can benefit from historical analysis. We will be discussed many well-known articles and books and recent research findings. Themes examined mainly include the determinants of economic growth and standards of living, demographic change, technological innovation, and inequality, and so on.
